The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
All students who live within the home zone described below and/or shown on the attached map shall be entitled to enrol at the school.
In a clockwise direction:
The northern boundary is a line that runs parallel to Dorset Road such that Dorset Road addresses are in zone. Pitt Road addresses are not in zone.
From the intersection of Dorset Road and Egmont Road, the eastern boundary is a line such that Egmont Road, Union and Tape Road addresses are in zone. The boundary line crosses Upland Road such that numbers 356 (even side), 311 (odd side) and above addresses are in zone. Awai Road addresses are not in zone.
From Upland Road the eastern boundary line continues such that King Road and Lepper Road Lower addresses are in zone. Hursthouse Road addresses are not in zone. At the intersection of Junction Road and Lepper Road, Junction Road addresses to the west are in zone, Junction Road addresses to the east are not in zone.
From the Junction Road and Lepper Road intersection the eastern boundary line runs to Egmont National Park such that Lepper Road Upper addresses are in zone. Bedford Road addresses are in zone from the intersection with Lepper Road Upper to the intersection with Dudley Road Upper. Dudley Road Upper addresses are in zone from the intersection with Bedford Road to National Park.
From Egmont National Park the western boundary is a line such that Korito Road, Herbert Road and Kent Road addresses are in zone. Mangorei Road addresses are not in zone. The western boundary line connects to Junction Road at 365 Junction Road (Scenic Reserve). Addresses on Allan Road off the west side of Junction Road, and addresses on Waiwakaiho Road and Hydro Road off the east side of Junction Road, are in zone. From 365 Junction Road, the western boundary connects back to Dorset Road at the starting point such that Smart Road addresses south of its intersection with Dorset Road are in zone.
All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exit roads off included sides of boundary roads are included in the zone unless otherwise stated.
This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a Special programme approved by the Secretary.
Each year the Board of Trustees will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
Applications for enrolments will be processed in the following order of priority:
First Priority This priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, Selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions by the Secretary. Under Section 11G (1) on the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.
Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
